Bareminerals BARESKIN foundation review!

Hey guys,
Today I will be sharing my thoughts and feelings on this ‘revolutionary‘ foundation.
Firstly, I will just mention that I am a bareminerals lover, so this may be influencing my opinions, but I shall try to give an unbiased review!

1) Great colour match to my skin tone, unusual due to my very pinky undertone
2) Amazing coverage!! I cannot describe my love for the coverage of this product. You can use 2-3 drops which I find gives a light coverage but I like to have a medium/full coverage when I wear any foundation and so I use about 6 drops in total, but it’s great because you can build it up in layers so you’re not just mooing around blobs of foundation
3) Feels smooth on the skin; like the bareminerals loose foundation, it doesn’t feel like you have makeup on your skin, which I love!
4) The foundations keeps it’s coverage all day and I haven’t needed to touch up at all throughout the day

1) The price tag, £26 for the foundation and £24 for the specialised brush..a grand total of £50!
2) You have to buff buff BUFF to get a good coverage, otherwise you will have a face full of exaggeration!
3) I am slightly concerned about how long this small bottle of foundation will last (i’ll keep you updated!)
4) I feel quite conned by the buffing brush which is supposed to be used with this foundation. I am not keen on the brush as it leaves a streaky effect and all of my other brushes work equally as well, mid not better

All in all, I do really like this foundation and I may repurchase as it is only a one off £50 due to purchasing the brush, however I may search round for some other foundations first or go back to my loose powder foundation as I find it works equally as well!

Have you tried this foundation? What was your opinion on this new foundation? Leave me a comment, I’d love to know!

Till next time,
Becky xo

Makeup Mishaps #2

Continuing on from my past blog post ‘Makeup Mishaps’ click here to view ‘Makeup Mishaps’, today i am here to shout STOP so that we can abolish all bad beauty.

If you look like this…..

then i suggest that you slowly put down your tweezers and bronzer, instead put on your glasses and continue to read!

Makeup Mishaps

Mishap: testing makeup on the wrong areas

Improve: Try foundation on your jawline rather than your hand to get a true match, ask an assistant to disinfect lipstick so that you can test it with a brush on your lips to try out the colour and also test eyeshadow on your wrist

Mishap: Applying bronzer all over the face

Improve: Apply bronzer only to the forehead, chin, neck and cheek bones (don’t forget the neck!)

Mishaps: Don’t over powder

Improve: Over powdering can look too heavy and cakey, instead apply a light layer of powder on the t-zone and then throughout the day use blotting pads to absorb any oil

Mishaps: Skipping primer

Improve: ALWAYS use primer! ALWAYS. It helps your makeup stay on for longer without going patchy. It will save you from constantly reapplying makeup throughout the day to cover the patches.

Mishaps: Buying the wrong shade of foundation

Improve: Foundation is supposed to create a near perfect canvas for your face, not give you a tan (that’s why we have bronzer!. Instead try to find shade that matches your skin tone so that it will give you more natural looking skin.

Mishaps: Not trying makeup before buying it

Improve: Would you buy a pair of shoes before checking that they’re the right size? NO! So don’t forget to try all of your makeup before purchasing it

Mishaps: Trying to sculpt your natural face shape

Improve: No matter how hard you try, you can’t change the structure of your cheekbones or the size of your nose. Contouring your face is not a beauty crime but don’t go over board; you’ll never achieve that glossy magazine perfection because they use lots more makeup which appears more natural on camera due to strong lights etc. You’ll end up with lots of brown lines everywhere rather than a new face shape. BE CAREFUL

So, that’s it from me today. Let me know if you’re guilty of any of these mistakes. I think we all are at some point! Leave me a comment to let me know what your most common makeup mishap is. Let me know if you found my improvement ideas useful or if you have any ideas old your own, i’d love to hear from you all.

Till next time,

Peace and love, Becky

The title of this blog has probably caused you some worry about the nature of the text, unless you’re a makeup maniac like myself, in which case you’ll be just as exited to read this as i was to write it!

Here it is! The new Urban Decay ‘Perversion’ mascara.

Firstly, i must point out that although i love Urban Decay, i have never actually been too fussed about their mascaras. I was looking forward to testing this product due to the fact that i love the perversion eyeliner. I must say that this mascara has exceeded my expectations by MILES.

At £17 this eyeliner is what i would call a bargain. Compared to competing high end mascaras such as ‘Better than Sex’ from Too Faced and ‘They’re Real’ (one of my personal favourites) by Benefit, this mascara is cheaper and equally as effective, if not more.

First Thoughts

‌• The mascara brush looks very cheap and standard

‌• The tube isn’t very visually exciting

• Not much going for it, very drug store looking

Thoughts After Use

‌• Why is no other mascara so purely black?!

‌• How did this wand work such miracles?

So, overall i do love this mascara. I’ve not been using it every day for a week or so and i have found that it really doesn’t clump no matter how many coats you use. In addition, you don’t actually need more than one coat if you don’t want to keep applying it because one coat gives a nicely volumized look with added length as well. I am a huge fan of this mascara and i give it 5 out of 5 ★★★★★

Have you tried this new mascara? Did you love it? Did you hate it? Let me know down in the comments, i would love to hear from you all!

Till next time,

Peace and love,

Becky xo

How to choose the right lipstick colour for YOU

Lipstick can make you look bold and it can also keep your look natural. Choosing a lipstick that’s right for you is simple, here are my tips and tricks:

1) Decide what purpose you want your lipstick for:
A night out?
Family party?
Casual, everyday wear?

2) Determine which skin tone you are:

3) Choose a shade of lipstick 2 shades deeper than the colour of your natural lips

4) Don’t match the shade of your lipstick with the exact colour of your outfit, it will look too overwhelming!

Here are some of my personal favourites colour:skin tone

‌•Coral Reds:Fair

5) For those with naturally pale lips, try using coral colours

6) Don’t use lipstick with black undertones! instead try something with a berry undertone

7) To achieve the perfect nude lips, go slightly brighter or deeper than your natural skin tone.

8) Always remember, the lighter your hair colour, the brighter your lips will look!

So that’s it for today, I hope you’ve found this helpful and/or interesting! Let me know your thoughts and opinions in the comments, I’d love to hear from you!

They’re Real Eye Makeup Remover..MY OPINION!

I have recently just got back from my holiday and have an update on the Benefit ‘They’re Real’ line. I have been using a free tester of the Benefit Eye Makeup Remover. It claims to

Take it ALL off! Specially formulated to remove our bestselling they’re real! mascara and they’re real! push-up liner, this creamy gel is gentle-yet-powerful. It completely lifts away waterproof eye makeup without tugging the delicate eye area. *Suitable for sensitive eyes & contact lens wearers.

HOWEVER.. I have sensitive eyes and also wear contact lenses and this remover felt like it was trying to blind me (not literally). It really stings my eyes and I am sure that I am using it correctly as the assistant in Boots showed me exactly how to use it.

Also, I was told that it removes these waterproof products better than water ever could, hence the name ‘waterproof’; yet I find water works much more easily with considerably less pain! For £14.50 this product is a complete waste of money, especially considering that my normal eye remover gently removes these products with no problems!

Let me know what you think! Have you tried it? Did you love it? Did you hate it? Let me know I’m the comments, I would love to hear from you!

Clinique’s ‘3 Step System’

New to the brand Clinique, I decided to try their cheapest 1 months, 3 step skincare system. Excited with my new find, I have been using these products for three weeks now and I am seeing a difference already!

Firstly, you apply the liquid facial soap once rinsing your face with tepid water; this really cleans your skin which leaves it feeling fresh and soft.

Then you use the clarifying lotion with a cotton wool pad; this gently exfoliates. I LOVE this exfoliant as it doesn’t have the harsh, gritty texture which normal exfoliators have so its lovely to apply to even sensitive skin, like my own.

Finally, the dramatically different moisturizing gel. This moisturiser leaves the skin amazingly soft, without a sticky or greasy feel to it afterwards.

This set, for one months worth of supplies, is £20, which is on the more expensive side compared to drugstore products, however, I feel like it is completely worth the splurge! I have had bad skin, prone to breakouts, as a teenager and this set is absolutely perfect for me. There are 3 different types for different skin types, the consultants at the store help to chose the right one for you. PLUS, they’re all dematologist-developed not just branded ‘dermatologically tested’, which doesn’t mean they’re approved (never fall for this gimmick).

Let me know what you think of this set! Do you have it? Have you tried it? Do you prefer your ‘clean and clear’ products for half the price? Let me know,

Peace and love,

Becky xo
